Racism

Stories like these make me sick.

Racism is on the rise in this country, and it will doubtless cast a shadow this nation had painfully banished from its soul so many decades ago. Banished with the light of hope and prosperity, and the election of a black man to the highest office in its land seems to be hatred's rallying cry, rather than its death knell.

This country was founded almost two and a half centuries ago on an ideal. This country stands alone as the light on the hill because we are unified not from whence we came, or what we speak, or what color we are, but because we all stand for the same thing. Pure liberty. Pure freedom. Pure prosperity for all that wish it, and all that work hard enough to achieve it. To foster hate is treason on that ideal, and to treason against that ideal is not just a crime against those who stand tall today with that liberty on their hearts, but to spit in the face of all those that fought and died for it. Every man and woman who died before. This country has lit the world for two and a half centuries with that light and we must never allow it to burn out.
