In support of flight attendants

By now, most of you have read at least ten thousand articles praising the efforts of one Chelsey Sullenberger. In case that name doesn't ring a bell, he's this guy.

Nothing? How about this?

Better? Good. Now, what the pilot did was unreal, unfathomable. As a person with some flight experience myself, I can tell you that what he did was staggeringly above and beyond the call of duty. This man has been mentioned in every newspaper in the english speaking world, and rightfully so. He fits very nicely into the western world's, and more specifically, America's need for a hero to worship. (See: Phelps, Michael). But there is one group of people no one has mentioned that I can see. The flight attendants. This vastly under-appreciated and undervalued group of people is there to make sure your flight is comfortable, but that is not even remotely their primary purpose. They are there to ensure your safety, and everything else is secondary.
And so, while everyone is going on and on about how difficult the captains task was to land a hundred thousand pound brick in a river while barely scratching the paint is; no one is talking about how difficult it must have been to get a hundred and thirty five panicked, soon to be freezing passengers out of that plane before it sank. So lets lift our glass to them too.
